LAPORTE COUNTY, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in Northwest Indiana arrested a wanted woman who was hiding in a very unusual place.
LaPorte County Sheriff’s Department said that on Sunday evening deputies were sent to a home on U-S 35 because of a 911 hang-up call. Several units got there and started to look around. Police said they learned while investigating that a 39-year old woman wanted by police was possibly in the residence.
While looking for Rabecca Rudd, they saw bed sheets that had been made into a rope hanging out a window and secured to a lightweight kitchen table.
Police didn’t fall for what they figured was a ruse and kept looking. They found Rudd in a refrigerator. She was arrested on three misdemeanors including Battery, Criminal Mischief, and Possession of Paraphernalia.
