(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- U.S. Rep. Adam Kinzinger, an Illinois Republican, on Tuesday said he would vote to impeach President Trump when the U.S. House takes up an unprecedented second attempt to remove a commander-in-chief.

He joins at least two other House GOP members who said they would vote “yes” on impeaching Trump for inciting last week’s deadly Capitol riot.

The jarring bipartisan support for Trump’s ouster comes as Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., tries to convince Vice President Mike Pence to use the 25th Amendment to remove Trump. Pence, in a letter Tuesday night, said he would not and asked lawmakers to let the clock run out on Trump’s volatile term in office.

Kinzinger said Trump’s effort to whip up a crowd of supporters Jan. 6 justify impeachment, which, if successful, would move to the Senate for a trial. Senate Majority Leader, R-Ky., is quoted as saying he may support the effort to remove President Trump.

“In assessing the article of impeachment brought before the House, I must consider: If these actions — the Article II branch inciting a deadly insurrection against the Article I branch — are not worthy of impeachment, then what is an impeachable offense?

I will vote in favor of impeachment,” Kinzinger said on social media.

Also supporting impeachment are the House’s No. 3 Republican, Liz Cheney of Wyoming, and Republican Rep. John Katko of New York.
