
JOLIET, IL (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A man was shot during an altercation with Joliet Police Wednesday night.
It occurred just after 11pm. A statement from Joliet Police said a man with a gun ran on foot from a traffic stop in the 100 block of Linden Avenue. An officer chased and caught up with him.
The statement said the man refused multiple commands to drop the weapon. The officer then shot him. It wasn’t over yet, though. Police said the man, now wounded, ran again and was found hiding nearby.
Officers gave him first aid and he was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
Police said a gun was recovered at the scene.
The Will-Grundy Major Crimes Task Force is investigating the incident.
