CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Chicago New Orleans-themed restaurant and bar is doing its part to help the victims and families of the New Year's Day tragedy.

Sunny Linn opened NOLA Bar & Kitchen in Wrigleyville in 2016 as a tribute to one of her favorite cities.

“New Orleans is a place [where] people always celebrate something,” Linn told WBBM. “Every time I’ve been there it’s happy people, great food, great music. That really intrigued me.”

When she and her employees learned of the New Year's Day deadly attack on Bourbon Street, she knew she wanted to help somehow.

“It’s a community, and we just want to bring people together…It’s very little what we can do, but when we’re together we can make a bigger impact.”

On Friday Jan. 17, from 5-8p, 10 percent of the bar revenue and 100 percent of the piano player's tips will go toward the New Orleans New Year's Day Tragedy Fund.

The bar will also offer 50 percent  off of all happy hour drinks.

Every year, NOLA Bar & Kitchen streams Mardi Gras live back to Chicago.
