PALATINE, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A northwest suburban roofing company is accused of not keeping workers safe.
The Occupational Safety and Health Administration said that twice within a month this past summer, federal inspectors found a Palatine contractor did not provide roofing employees with required fall protection.
Investigators said these workplace safety violations by Ricardo Gallardo - operating as R&R Construction Services Inc. - are the fifth and sixth times since 2019 that inspectors with OSHA discovered the company violating federal regulations for protecting workers from falls.
OSHA inspectors also learned the company did not train employees on the use of fall protection and failed to provide workers with required eye protection.
OSHA assessed more than $275,000 dollars in penalties. WBBM has been unable to reach the company for comment.
