(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Employees appear to be paying a price for remote work, but they’re also happier.
42% of remote workers who were surveyed by Resume Builder got a promotion this year. That’s compared to 55% of workers, who are in the office all the time.
“This (remote work) is resulting in some workers losing out on advancement and raises. Remote workers need to be more proactive when working remotely," advised Resume Builder’s Chief Career Advisor Stacie Haller.
"Scheduling weekly or periodic meetings with managers to review their work and get feedback on how to achieve a promotion or higher salary is one way to make progress."
The survey found that 54% of hybrid workers received a promotion. They work both at home and in the office. About 1,200 hundred people were surveyed.
They were also asked about quality of life. 43% who work in offices said they were “very stressed.” That’s compared to 30% working remotely.
Also, about half of those working in offices said they’re looking for new jobs.
About a third of remote workers are doing likewise.
“Remote work has provided employees more work-life balance, which is why we see that employees at companies that allow remote work are happier," Haller explained. "Full-time office workers are the most stressed, which is likely driving them to seek out new opportunities."
