The George Patton Elementary School teacher strike has ended, while the Proviso District 209 strike continues on.
A tentative agreement has been reached by the teachers and staff at George Patton Elementary School in Riverdale, suspending the five-day strike.
The main issues have been pay and programs that the teachers said have been long-neglected, like technology, music and art.
The teachers are back in the classrooms.
The second strike, by teachers in the much larger Proviso District 209, that started on March 4, involving 280 teachers in three high schools in Forest Park, Maywood and Hillside, is continuing.
The district said the two sides remain a $1M apart on compensation.
It said in a statement, “It has become apparent that our differences have become increasingly difficult to settle."
