(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Police in southwest suburban Palos Park said a sports car driver was responsible for spooking a horse and causing its rider to fall off last night.
Police think it was intentional. Horse owners were on a ride along 123rd Street and 86th Avenue in Palos Park when according to Police Cmdr. Chris Hughes, a woman reported that a middle aged man did something that was very dangerous.
“Her daughter was riding her horse and a red newer model Corvette pulled up behind the horse and the driver revved the engine of the Corvette very loudly, which frightened the horse.”
The daughter was thrown from the horse, but was not injured.
“At this time, we do not have an idea who it was since there was no license plate information. The only thing we have is a newer model red Corvette with the male driver between the ages of 45 and 55,” said Cmdr. Hughes.
After throwing off its rider, the horse ran across the street to its barn.
Commander Hughes said it’s the first time he can remember that a motorist intentionally tried to scare a horse in Palos Park.
Police ask anyone with information about the driver to give them a call and for motorists to respect the safety of horses and riders.
