CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Chicago police said no one was injured after a domestic-related incident at Trump Tower prompted a SWAT response on Wednesday.

Following reports of an allegedly armed woman entering the building at 401 N. Wabash Ave, armored trucks and Chicago police squad cars lined Wabash Avenue.

At least one floor of Trump Tower was evacuated and remained blocked off to residents for hours as SWAT officers worked the scene. CPD described the situation as an isolated incident.

Resident Steve Papendick told reporters he was escorted out of the building after stepping outside for a break from household chores.

“I was just doing some housework and some cooking and decided to take some fresh air,” said Papendick. “I came down to the lobby, and I was quickly escorted away from the lobby out of the building and was told not to come back until it was clear. I asked several times what was going on … I would assume that whatever was going on was serious.”

Just after 3 p.m., Chicago police officials said the incident concluded with no injuries. One person was taken to a local hospital for evaluation.

Despite its location, there was no indication that the incident had anything to do with former President Donald Trump or his recent arraignment.
