CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- We have made it to March! Yes, it is March yet again - to think we have been in this pandemic for a year now is hard to believe, but there is light at the end of the tunnel! And because there is that light, there are plenty of things to do this weekend to celebrate!

Museums and zoos are back open, with some offering special exhibits like Marvel: Universe of Super Heroes at MSI, which opens Sunday. Restaurants and bars can now be open at 50 percent capacity - and some are even hosting pop-up events! Plus it is Chicago Theater Week, so if you are missing live performances, be sure to check that out - or if you are a movie buff, why not go to see something on the big screen this weekend?

Here's a list of ideas on things to do this weekend:

Chicago Theater Week

The show must go on! While you can't see any in-person performances during Chicago Theatre Week this year, there are still ways to celebrate. This year's event is built around streaming programming, bringing stage productions from the like of the Court Theatre, Joffrey Ballet, and the Goodman Theatre into your living room. Highlights include a revival of Baskerville: A Sherlock Holmes Mystery by the Metropolis Performing Arts Center, the one-man show Where Did We Sit on The Bus? presented by Victory Gardens Theater and an online edition of BECHDEL FEST, featuring femme, female-identifying, non-binary, trans and genderqueer actors. Much of the programming is free, but viewers are encouraged to make donations to individual theaters of the Chicago Theatre Workers Relief Fund. Chicago Theatre Week is an opportunity for the public to celebrate Chicago theatres and to learn more about a favorite theatre or discover a new one; engage with local theatres, including a wealth of digital content; and support the industry in any number of ways.
