MCHENRY COUNTY (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Police in McHenry County say they're arrested a woman in connection with a hit-and-run accident that killed a man from Island Lake last fall.
Investigators said 50-year-old Christine Eilers of McHenry was driving on Roberts Road near Island Lake on Sept. 27, when her vehicle struck a pedestrian, 24-year-old Austin Stanek.
Police said Eilers fled the scene and Stanek was later pronounced dead at a hospital.
Investigators said they recovered debris from Eilers' SUV and tracked that vehicle to a garage in Lakemoor.
Police said Eilers is charged by prosecutors with leaving the scene of a fatal crash and failing to report the incident.
