COVID-19 RESPONSE

“We’re committed to our fan and our employee safety,” Hawks CEO Steve Koonin said. “... We’re trying to think it through to the last detail…everything that we can do to try to ensure our fans and our employees and our safety, we’re going to do.”

The health and safety of our guests and staff is of the utmost importance and our top priority. We are closely monitoring the COVID-19 situation and working with the NBA and Center for Disease Control and Prevention as well as local health officials as the situation continues to evolve. We strongly encourage all fans attending events at State Farm Arena to practice CDC hygiene guidelines and will keep guests informed of any changes or updates.

@ State Farm Arena

What are WE doing to limit your risk of COVID-19?

Sanitization
We have done a comprehensive review of our cleaning and sanitization policies. While previously satisfactory, in light of the coronavirus, we have made significant investments to ensure a clean environment:

  • Purchased new industry-leading equipment considered to be the most effective in disinfecting and sanitization.
  • Added over 100 sanitizations area throughout State Farm Arena and posted signage with CDC guidelines throughout the building
  • Instituted complete deep cleans after every event with an emphasis on all the touching points at the arena, focusing on doorknobs staircases rail, bathroom sinks and hand railings as well as seating areas.
  • Full sanitizations are scheduled prior to and after every event while high-traffic and high-touch areas (bathrooms, elevators, etc.) are being disinfected multiple times during events.

Staffing
Our team members love hosting you for games and events. We’ve taken the following steps to ensure we are all working together so you have a great time:

  • Encouraged sick workers to remain at home penalty-free and are closely monitoring the health of our staff and enforcing any and all to stay home and not come to work even with the slightest of symptoms.
  • Increased our cleaning staff by over 10 percent to increase the frequency and efficiency of cleanings.
  • Educated our team members through regular meetings on the coronavirus and the importance of everyday precautions to prevent the spread of germs.

Prevention & Treatment

What can YOU do to limit your risk of COVID-19?

The CDC and other health experts recommend the precautions below to limit your exposure and prevent the spread of germs:

  • Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds – if soap and water are not available, use an alcohol‐based hand sanitizer
  • When interacting with fans and strangers, avoid high-fives and offer fist-bumps instead
  • Wash or sanitize your hands before eating
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth
  • Avoid close contact with people who are sick
  • Make sure you are up to date with all routine vaccinations, including the flu vaccine
  • Stay home and seek medical treatment when you are sick
  • Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash
  • Clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces
