15-Year-Old Atlanta Tennis Star Cori "Coco" Gauff Advances to Wimbledon's Round of 16

After a thrilling match against Slovenia's Polona Hercog, Atlanta-born tennis phenomenon Cori "Coco" Gauff -- just 15-year-old -- made an unbelievable comeback to win a place in Wimbledon's Round of 16. She's is now the youngest woman ever to make it into this level of the world-famous Grand Slam tennis tournament.
Gauff didn't lead the whole time; in the second set of this third round match, she was trailing 5-2, and seemed on her way to defeat. Then, all of a sudden, she staged an amazing surge, volleying and hanging in to get the win and advance to the fourth round. Gauff made headlines not long ago for defeating Venus Williams to get to the 6-foot Hercog.
Gauff told reporters, after her second-round win: “I could lie and say I felt normal. It was honestly so hard, just with social media and everything, trying to focus on the match, because people are still posting about Venus. I wasn’t expecting any of this. A lot of celebrities were DMing me, posting me. I’m kind of starstruck.”
V-103's own JR of The Morning Culture watched the match here inside the studios, and was impressed.
"I think it's amazing that you have a 15-year-old African-American hone her game in Florida, and out in England at Wimbledlon killing it. She hasn't reached her peak! Beating a legend in Venus, then beating an older player, and now beating a younger player... It's gotta be a dream come true for her, and it's gonna be interesting now that America is behind her, how far she can take it. It's an experience -- win or lose for her -- to get this far. Let's see how far her storybook can run!"
