AutoNSider Review | 2019 Nissan Maxima SR

Well…what have we got here?
A sports sedan?
Luxury car?
A tech showcase?
Or a fashion statement, perhaps?
Nissan has always billed its Maxima as a four-door sports car, and that may not be too far from the truth. Its 3.5 liter V-6 pumps out 300 HP and gives you darned decent “GO” pretty much as needed.
Those 300 horses run through a continuously variable automatic…and deliver an EPA rated 20 MPG city and 30 highway.
The Max has been refreshed for ’19…giving it an even more chiseled and angular, yet aerodynamic look. To me, its got some “Bad Boy” in its genes. In fact, if the Maxima were a fish, I think it’d be a shark.
Room for five comes standard…and how much high-tech and luxury you get depends upon the option list.
The Maxima “S” starts in the mid $30’s…and comes with Apple and Android compatibility and 18”alloys.
Another $2,000 gets you an “SV” with door-to-door nav, intelligent cruise, blind spot warnings and leather.
You’re still under 40K when you move up to the “SL”…with a big dual-panel moonroof, front and rear sonar, heated steering and a Bose premium 11 speaker sound system.
And our “SR” version upped the level of both sport and luxury with 19” black gloss alloys, a sport suspension, leather with quilted Alcantara inserts, and pretty much every front, rear and side impact / pedestrian warning known these days.
Performance? Yes.
Distinctive style? Yes.
Filled with all of today’s high-tech features? Yes.
Coddling comfort in its higher-level trims? Yes.
And you could even add “Economy”, as we handily beat the Maxima’s EPA 30 MPG figure on the road.
Today’s Nissan Maxima is a boldly styled competent performer with enough tech and luxury to rival any of its competitors….all for a little under or a little over $40,000…just depending upon how you check off on the options list. Follow AutoNSider on Facebook for review videos and more!
