The Academy Award nominations have been announced and as expected Oppenheimer is leading the pack with 13 nominations. Poor Things is next with 11 nominations, and Barbie is also up there with 7 nominations.
There was much anticipation and Oscar buzz surrounding The Color Purple's star studded cast, but it looks like Danielle Brookes scored the film's only nomination for Best Actress in Supporting Role. Da'Vine Joy Randolph is also nominated for Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in The Holdovers.
Although he did not score a nomination for his portrayal of Mister in The Color Purple, Colman Domingo is up for Best Actor for his role in the movie Rustin.
American Fiction scored 5 nominations including Best Picture, while the movie's actors Jeffery Wright scored a nod for Best Lead Actor, and Sterling K Brown, who you may remember from This is Us, is up or Best Supporting Actor.
The 96th annual Academy Awards will air live from the Dolby Theater at Ovation Hollywood on ABC March 10, 2024.
