The Big Tigger Morning Show welcomed Morehouse College Head Football Coach Gerard Wilcher and Athletic Director Harold Ellis into the V-103 studios to talk all things Maroon Tigers as Morehouse will kick off the 2023 College Football Season this Sunday in Canton, OH versus Virginia Union University in the annual Black College Hall of Fame Football Classic.
The game will be broadcast nationally on television via The NFL Network and on local radio on Sports Radio 92.9 The Game.
Both Coach Wilcher and AD Ellis are starting new eras for the Maroon Tigers as both are in the inaugural seasons of their tenure as Head Football Coach and Athletic Director.
The former classmates, (Morehouse Class of "92), return to their alma mater with one goal in mind, as Coach Wilcher eloquently
told Big Tigger, Shemia, and Ms. Pat during the interview when he said, "We are trying to get higher than what the expectations are."
The Maroon Tigers will be road warriors for much of the 2023 football season as they will only play two games in the recently renovated B.T. Harvey Stadium which underwent a multi-million-dollar renovation in 2021. However, despite only having the two home games AD Harold Ellis expects them both to be huge successes and shared that with the listeners when he brilliantly said, "Those two home games, we are going to make it a blast."
AD Ellis continued by saying, "One of them is our senior night, and one of them is homecoming. The stadium is ready, the football team is ready, and our coach is ready."
