Over the weekend, the ATL welcomed Delta Sigma Theta's Southern Regional Conference and Invest Fest, and this week, the city is showing love to the tech community, black journalists, and more!
Here are three things happening around Atlanta that you need to know about.
Atlanta Tech Week | August 9–14
Atlanta’s growing technology scene is taking center stage with Atlanta Tech Week.
The citywide event brings together founders, investors, developers, entrepreneurs and other tech professionals for nearly a week of conversations, workshops, networking opportunities and community events throughout Metro Atlanta.
Organizers say Atlanta Tech Week has grown to more than 15,000 attendees and more than 200 events, highlighting Atlanta’s increasing influence in technology and innovation.
One of the biggest events taking place during the week is RenderATL, happening August 12–13 in Downtown Atlanta. The technology conference includes programming centered around software development, artificial intelligence, entrepreneurship and the future of tech, along with networking and entertainment.
This year’s RenderATL also features a conversation, with rapper, activist and entrepreneur Killer Mike announced as a keynote headliner.
Whether you already work in tech, are building a business or simply want to learn more about opportunities in the industry, there are events happening throughout the week.
Atlanta Black Restaurant Week | Through August 17
Atlanta Black Restaurant Week is celebrating its 10th year of highlighting Black-owned culinary businesses across Metro Atlanta.
Running through August 17, the celebration gives Atlantans another reason to discover and support Black-owned restaurants, food trucks, bakeries, dessert shops and other food businesses throughout the city.
Black Restaurant Week was created to give greater exposure to African American, African and Caribbean cuisine while helping Black-owned culinary businesses attract new customers.
For Atlanta, a city with an incredible Black food scene, this is the perfect opportunity to try somewhere new or show some love to one of your favorite neighborhood spots.
NABJ Convention & Career Fair | August 12–16
Thousands of journalists and media professionals are also heading to Atlanta as the National Association of Black Journalists brings its 2026 Convention & Career Fair to the city August 12–16.
NABJ is one of the country’s largest organizations dedicated to Black journalists and media professionals, and its annual convention brings together journalists, executives, students, content creators and communications professionals from across the country.
The week includes professional development, networking, career opportunities, panels and conversations about the changing media landscape.
The organization will also recognize some of the industry’s best during several signature events, including its Hall of Fame Induction and Luncheon on Friday, August 14, and the Salute to Excellence Awards Gala on Saturday, August 15.
For Atlanta, a city with a deep history in Black media, culture and storytelling, hosting NABJ is especially fitting.
