The Atlanta Police Department presented a prestigious award to an officer who suffered severe injuries during a protest last May.
Atlanta Police Motors Unit Officer Max Brewer, who was hit by an ATV rider, sustained injuries to his legs after attempting to keep Georgia Floyd protesters from being hit by cars on Marietta Street.
During the ceremony, Brewer was presented with the Purple Heart and commended for his strength and bravery.
The ATC rider was charged with numerous traffic charges, including reckless driving, DUI, serious injury by vehicle, and possession of marijuana.
