Mark Monroe Sr. with Black Men Run Atlanta says "we are young Black men running in our communities." He declares that "Ahmaud is us."
Ahmaud Arbery's mother Wanda Cooper Jones is scheduled to be in attendance for a Run for Ahmaud event at 6:00 this evening on the west end of the Atlanta Beltline.

The 25 year old Arbery was chased, shot and killed by three white male residents after they spotted him jogging through their neighborhood near Brunswick, Georgia. That was in 2020. Three years later, Black Men Run is holding an annual event honoring Arbery.
"I run the streets daily and people need to know that they don't have to run in fear." Monroe adds "we can't let anything like this stand in our way. We have to continue achieving our goals. We have to just keep on fighting."
February 23 was declared Ahmaud Arbery Day in Georgia by the state legislature.
Arbery's killers are serving time in prison for his murder.
