
A private memorial celebration service for Hank Aaron was held Monday at Truist Park.
The ceremony was held in person and featured videos of Tom Glavine, John Smoltz, Dale Murphy, Dusty Baker, Freddie Freeman, and Bob Kendrick from Negro League Baseball Museum sharing fond memories of the great late Hank Aaron.
Major League Baseball Commissioner Rob Manfred, Braves Chairman Terry McGuirk, Braves Manager Brian Snitker, Braves Hall of Famer Chipper Jones, and Former Braves outfielder Marquis Grissom all spoke in person during the celebration and shared how Aaron impacted their lives.
During the celebration, Braves Chairman Terry McGuirk announced that the Braves Organization will be establishing The Henry Lewis Aaron Fund inside the Braves Foundation and will be seeded with two million dollars. McGuirk added that the fund honors Aaron's legacy and commitment to increasing minority participation in major league baseball.
The 86-year-old Hall of Famer died on Friday. The medical examiner's office confirmed to our V-103 news department that Aaron died of natural causes.
A private funeral service is slated for tomorrow afternoon at Friendship Baptist Church in Atlanta.
