The Morning Shift reacts to the breaking news that two-time Pro-Bowl selection Bijan Robinson and the Atlanta Falcons have reportedly reached an agreement on a three-year extension worth up to $75 million that now will make him the highest-paid running back in NFL history according to multiple reports.
Also according to multiple reports Robinson will receive a record $51 million guaranteed, including $37 million at signing. Last year, Robinson led the NFL with 2,298 yards from scrimmage en route to All-Pro First Team honors. He also notched career-highs in rushing yards (1,478), yards per carry (5.1), catches (79) and receiving yards (820).
In three seasons Bijan has 805 carries for 3,910 yards, 198 catches for 1,738 yards and has scored 34 touchdowns. The Falcons star running back was also a First-Team All-Pro last season and has been selected to play in two Pro Bowls.
The Falcons have now signed tight end Kyle Pitts, wide receiver Drake London, left guard Matthew Bergeron, and running back Bijan Robinson to long-term deals this summer, and Falcons General Manager Ian Cunningham has not only locked up possibly the best running back, maybe even the best player in the NFL, but has also locked up core pieces to what could be one of the best offensive cores in the NFL with good quarterback play.
