Atlanta Hawks select AJ Griffin 16th overall out of Duke

The Atlanta Hawks opted to stay put at sixteen overall and select 6-6, former 5-star recruit, AJ Griffin, from Duke University

The Atlanta Hawks were one of the more interesting teams in the NBA coming into draft night, but in the end, they ended up not making any major moves. They ended up taking the 6-6 freshman, A.J. Griffin, out of Duke.

Griffin projects as a future "3-and-D" wing for the Hawks. The 19-year-old is a bonafide threat from the outside after shooting an impressive 44.7 percent on a relatively high volume. On the defensive end, he offers tremendous length with an incredible 7-foot wingspan, although he still comes in a little raw in this regard.

The former 5-star recruit is young and still has a lot of room for growth, but he can factor in early in his career as a catch-and-shoot player. The injury history will certainly be something to watch moving forward.
