As crime continues to escalate in Atlanta, APD Chief Rodney Bryant is being called to appear before Atlanta City Council today.

According to City Council President Felicia Moore, "There were alot of incidents of crime that happened over the weekend. Some very troubling incidents."

Among those incidents, a jogger was shot on West Wesley Road Saturday. The suspect, in police custody, allegedly shot at 2 other joggers on the same street. There was also a deadly shooting at a Buckhead hotel.

"Innocent victims are being traumatized" says Moore. "You're jogging, out for a walk, trying to get gas in your car, or taking out the trash", Moore adds that those are some of the incidents that have happened.

Moore says she knew that Council would want to know "what's being done, and to possibly ask questions and offer some solutions." That is why she says she made a "written request to the police chief that he be present" at Monday's meeting.

Council meets at 1pm this afternoon. The proceedings can be watched on the city's Website Atlantaga.gov via Channel 26. The meeting is also available on the Atlanta City Council social media sites.
