Atlanta State Representative Mesha Mainor flips from Democrat to Republican

Atlanta State Representative Mesha Mainor becomes the first Black female Republican in the Georgia Legislature.

Elected as a Democrat in 2020 to represent House District 56, Mainor announced the change in political party Tuesday on the Georgia GOP's website and social media.

According to her election website, the Atlanta native successfully campaigned for several issues including government accountability, the environment, and mental health.
