Brad Guzan took heavy contact in the 18th minute of Atlanta United's 1-1 draw with NYCFC last Saturday. While he remained in the game, the injury sustained from that collision is going to cost him a significant portion of the season.

Atlanta United officially announced earlier today that Guzan has suffered a torn MCL and that is going to cost him at least 10-12 weeks. There will be another evaluation coming later that will hopefully determine a more specific timeline.

Atlanta United has two options currently on the roster to replace Guzan, one being Quintin Westberg, who the team added in December of 2022. The other being Clement Diop.

Both Westberg and Diop have starting experience with Westberg having 68 MLS starts with Toronto in the past four seasons and Diop having 50 MLS starts, but only three of those coming since the end of the 2021 season.

It's an unfortunate result for Guzan who was off to a strong start this season after missing the majority of last year due to an achilles injury.
