
Dr. Maria Boynton has had an extensive career in the news industry as she has worked for CNN, WOR NY, WCBS NY and now, Audacy Atlanta where she is the News and Public Affairs Director and the host of "Atlanta Up Close."
In honor of her work with community advocacy and media reporting, she received a resolution from the Georgia Senate.

Boynton was previously presented with a resolution by the Georgia House of Representatives.
Among Boynton’s other honors are two Peabody Awards and two DuPont Awards for collaborative efforts. She also has a number of Associated Press awards from Georgia, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania.

Originally from Columbus, Georgia she is a proud HBCU graduate from Albany State University and a member of the Georgia Association of Broadcasters Hall of Fame, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc., National Council of Negro Women Greater-Atlanta Section, National Pan Hellenic Council of Greater Atlanta, and Tau Beta Sigma.
She is a frequent MC/Host for charity events including the Lupus Foundation of America-Georgia Chapter, the National Kidney Foundation, and American Cancer Society.
