With an all new coaching staff in place, all Falcon eyes are now on the quarterback position. With the way that things worked out with former head coach Arthur Smith, the Raheem Morris regime absolutely has to get the quarterback position right, or we may be right back here in three years. But what should they do?
There are some veteran quarterbacks out there that may be available, such as Kirk Cousins or Russell Wilson, but according to Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael, they should go with a younger guy. If the Falcons sign or trade for a vet, it makes their leash to success very short. Kirk Cousins is reportedly looking for a two-year deal, and if you trade for Russell Wilson, he has three years left on his current deal. Either of those might make sense if Coach Morris believes that inserting a quarterback would mean an immediate Super Bowl run. While the Falcons are poised to win soon, it may not be that soon. What they need is a quarterback that they can develop and build a system around, so that they can be successful for the next ten years, not someone that is just dropping by for a cup of coffee and done. Now they just need to figure out who that quarterback is.
