Braves recall Vaughn Grissom as Ozzie Albies hits 10-day IL

Ozzie Albies had been one of four Braves players (Olson, Riley, and Acuña) who had started every game of the season. But after being lifted on Sunday night due to a late-game hamstring strain, Albies didn't start on Monday and has been placed on the 10-day IL.

In a corresponding move the Braves have brought Vaughn Grissom back to the majors.

With Grissom rejoining the Braves, and the recent performance of Nicky Lopez in fill-in duty, Andy and Randy chat about who they expect to man the second base position until Albies is ready to return.

The Braves traded with the Kansas City Royals for infielder Nicky Lopez at the trade deadline, and in limited action he's gone 7-10 with a HR and a double and was the choice to start in place of Albies on Monday, and was also given a start in place of Orlando Arcia during Saturday's doubleheader.

Grissom, who started the year with the Braves at the shortstop position, played second base for a portion of the season a year ago as Albies missed time with an injury in 2022.

After struggling defensively to begin the year, Grissom has performed well with Triple-A Gwinnett, especially offensively.
