Atlanta Braves GM Alex Anthopoulos joined Dukes & Bell to talk about the team’s moves at the trade deadline and did the team try to get Starling Marte from the Marlins?
When asked about if he felt like he addressed all of the team’s needs at the trade deadline.
“I would have loved to find a pure centerfielder, the best one on the trade market was Starling Marte, I know we were able to get the Duvall deal done but it was not easy,” Anthopoulos said “I think if you ask Miami the strong, strong lean in preference would probably, all things being equal not to trade in the division.”
“There weren’t really a lot of guys who were pure, legit centerfielders, everyday guys and that probably would have been the most clean fit for us. If Acuna still been healthy I think there’s scenarios where you would have seen him slide over to center.”
