Bryce Elder is in the midst of a stellar season, one that earned him All-Star honors. However, Elder's hot start to the season has cooled off since June. Another poor performance against the Cubs today marked another rough outing for Elder.
Writer and producer for Battery power, Scott Coleman, joins Caleb Johnson on the "Dopey Millennials Show" on Saturday and said that Elder has "clearly lost a bit of the magic he had early on."
Coleman went on to say that, "Since the start of June his era is around a .600." Edler's most recent outing, giving up seven hit and five earned runs in just four innings, against the Cubs will not be helping that era.
The "homerun ball" was highlighted as one of Elder's biggest issues as of late by Coleman. The Decatur, Texas product has eight homeruns given up over his last 10 starts. It seems like Elder has gone cold at the wrong time. Luckily for the Braves there is still time till the postseason begins.
Another positive for the braves is the return of Max Fried. Coleman said that with Fried back, Elder "can be successful in that (fourth-starter) role." With a few more consistent arms ahead of him the Braves should be able to make due with Elder at the fourth starting spot.
