Andy Bunker and Randy McMichael were joined by 92.9 The Game Braves Reporter Joe Patrick who talked about some of the Atlanta Braves off-season moves, specifically the starting rotation after adding Drew Smyly and Charlie Morton.
Patrick then turned his attention to Mike Soroka.
“When he tore his Achilles last year a lot of us were asking how much are we going to get out of Mike Soroka in 2021 half a season, the last quarter of the season? It sounds like right now he is already out there throwing the ball around at SunTrust Park, he is in the weight room every single day - Alex Anthopolous says he always sees him there. We know how dedicated and professional he is, sounds like he is going to be able to pitch most of if not all of next season,” said Patrick.
Patrick continued, “I think actually it’s going to be the Braves kind of holding Soroka back because they just want to protect his shoulder now more than anything. I don’t think there are so much worried about the Achilles, it’s the fact that he hasn’t been on his normal throwing regiment so they want to make sure that his shoulder is fully built up and healthy before he goes all at it but I think this Braves rotation is set up to be one of the best in baseball.”
