Former Atlanta Falcons quarterback and now Falcons Radio Network analyst, Dave Archer, told The Morning Shift earlier today that Nolan Smith has the “athleticism” and “strength” to be the next Micah Parsons.
However, Dave does pump the brakes and talks about the Falcons needing a plan for Smith if they do draft him. “I think there’s a lot of versatility to him. If you got a plan for him then that’s great. I don’t want to draft a guy just because of wow I like the way he jumped at the combine, or wow he ripped off a 40 at the combine. I want to have a plan in place, and certainly I think that Atlanta would if they take Nolan Smith.” Archer said.
Smith played in a lot of different places at Georgia, and versatility is never a bad thing, but Dave believes the Falcons need to know where Nolan is going to fit. “Is he just an outside linebacker that’s going to play the edge and maybe third down situations? Archer asks.
The former Falcon quarterback thinks Nolan won’t make it out of the top 15, so he has no doubts he’s going to be a good NFL football player, but Atlanta or any team that might be thinking about drafting the Georgia standout just needs to know how they are going to use him, instead of just drafting him because what he did at the combine.
