"It means we're going to have a fight unlike any that we've ever seen here in a governor's race," is how republican strategist Brian Robinson sees it. With former U.S. Senator David Perdue, a republican, in the race against current republican governor Brian Kemp,  the CEO of Robinson Republic Communications says "we've never had someone take on the incumbent."

Robinson tells Audacy Atlanta's Maria Boynton it is 'utterly extraordinary' because "we have four people in the governor's race with national name i.d.," Democrat Stacey Abrams, Kemp, Perdue, and one not on the ballot...former President Donald Trump.

Well-known Democrat Stacey Abrams, who lost to Kemp in 2018, has announced her intentions to run.

Governor Brian Kemp was the first governor to open the economy during Covid-19. He was also attacked by former President Donald Trump after the November 2020 election.

David Perdue has a national profile because his seat was one of the two that determined control of the U.S. Senate in the most expensive senate race in the country's history.

The fourth person in the race won't be on the ballot and that's former President Trump according to Robinson. "No one has more name i.d. and he is heavily involved in this race."

As for Democrat-turned Republican, former state representative and DeKalb County CEO Vernon Jones, Robinson says there remains no place for him in the race, especially now with Perdue in the field of candidates.
