MLB writer Keith Law joined Dukes & Bell and talked about the team’s offseason moves. Did they make the right decision by bringing back Eddie Rosario instead of Jorge Soler?
When asked about what the team might do in centerfield with Ronald Acuña Jr. out.

“I would rather sign Soler. I don’t even think it’s particularly close to me," Law said. "I think Soler is just a much better hitter overall. None of these guys is a centerfielder.
"To me it’s two separate things. You’ve gotta probably find someone that’s a short-term patch in centerfield, and they traded Cristian Pache who maybe would have done that. There’s a big question of how much he’s going to hit in the short term. We all know Pache can play defense. He’s gone, so that option isn’t there. So do you sign somebody to a one-year contract to handle defense in center until Acuña returns?
Law talked about why he prefers Soler over Rosario.
“I would have preferred to sign Soler than Rosario even if the dollars are the same," said Law. "I have a lot more faith in Soler’s ability to hit, especially his ability to get on base. Once they acquired him last year he really turned a corner, and I think he became a lot more of the hitter that I saw when he first signed. I watched him come up through the Cubs system. That looked a lot more like the guy when he was as a prospect than the guy he was while he was with Kansas City.”
