Even with Mike Soroka’s struggles, Braves need him on a big-league mound soon

Mike Johnson believes the Atlanta Braves’ decision to bring Michael Soroka back up to the big league club shouldn’t be “reactionary”. Despite the Braves’ two best starting pitchers, Max Fried and Kyle Wright, both being on the IL, Mike said the Braves “need to stick to the plan”.

“Don’t react to what’s going on at the Major League level and say well we got to bring him up.” Johnson said. However, Beau Morgan isn’t sure that giving the former all-star more starts in Gwinnett is beneficial. “I’m not sure what he’s gaining by pitching in Triple A.” Morgan said.

Beau believes Soroka has had plenty of time to get his endurance, stamina, and confidence up, and with the Braves being without Fried and Wright right now Beau believes it’s go time. “What are we waiting on? The time is now”.

Soroka did pitch last night for the Gwinnett Stripers after skipping a start because of a rough start the outing before. Michael had to shake off some rust early as he walked the first batter he faced, but finished the start really strong.

After everything Soroka has been through rushing him back may not be the best idea when there are other options, but despite what happens with the Gwinnett Stripers at some point Soroka has to do it at the Major League level, and with Atlanta not having Kyle and Max at the moment, this could be the perfect storm for Michael Soroka to make his long awaited return.
