For a second consecutive season the Atlanta Hawks didn’t make it out of the NBA Play-In Tournament and are an afterthought. What has to change for the Hawks to be relevant? Steak Shapiro shared his thoughts earlier today on The Steakhouse.
“Everything has to be on table including trading Trae Young. What are we getting out of Trae Young? What’s Trae getting out of Atlanta? What’s Atlanta getting out of Trae? We’ve tried it, how is this year a success? We didn’t lose Julius Erving, we lost Jalen Johnson, nice player, not an All-Star, he’s not a first-team, second-team All-NBA player.”
“I mean he’s a nice player, so you have some assets, you potentially have two number ones courtesy of the Lakers and maybe Sacramento, you’ve got 41 million in cap space, you have Trae Young who’s a star, maybe you go make some bold moves, and Trae Young could be on the table.” Steak said
You would have to imagine trading Trae Young would be a decision that Tony Ressler has to sign off on, but if he does that would definitely be a bold move that if done right could make the Hawks more relevant than they are now.
