As the Atlanta Falcons set their final 53-man roster on the NFL cutdown day, the long-awaited confirmation of offensive tackle, Kaleb McGary’s status, was finally released as ESPN’s Marc Raimondi reported the offensive lineman will be placed on the injured reserve list and would miss the season.

“So, no Kaleb McGary right now for the entire season, we know this,” Raimondi said as he joined 92-9 The Game's Dukes and Bell afternoon show and explained with backup swing tackle also set to miss six to eight weeks, the Falcons find themselves in a ‘not ideal’ situation heading into the season which they begin against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday, September 7.

And while the Falcons appear to be set with moving forward with Elijah Wilkinson stepping in to replace McGary, Raimondi notes the Falcons’ trading for offensive tackle Michael Jerrell on Tuesday may play a role in how the team addresses the losses of McGary and Norton.

“I don’t know if he is going to be the starter or a starter, I would imagine he is a guy they are going to keep on the roster and maybe have him compete for the job over the next two weeks with Elijah Wilkinson, while I’m certain Terry Fontenot is on the phone probably right now,” Raimondi said believing the Falcons will continue to work on searching for a reliable option for their offensive line.
