The Atlanta Falcons are 2-3 on the season and oddly enough those two wins came in Marcus Mariota's two worst games of the season. In the wins over Seattle and Cleveland, Mariota's QBR was just 26.8 and 27.0, far below his numbers in the teams three losses.
Atlanta Falcons digital reporter Scott Bair discussed the job that Tyler Allgeier, Caleb Huntley, and even Avery Williams have done with Cordarrelle Patterson out injured.
"They understand what Arthur Smith needs, guys who make smart decisions, one cut, and go. None of these guys are Cordarrelle Patterson, but they're doing the job well," says Scott Bair. "This front five is doing a great job executing this run-blocking scheme, almost 2.4 yards before Tyler or Caleb get hit, and that speaks to how well the run blocking is doing and that is as important as who's carrying the football."
While the run game wasn't completely shut down in the loss to Tampa Bay, Allgeier, Huntley, and Williams combined for just 90 yards on 24 carries, and the run game overall was boosted by an additional 61 yards from Marcus Mariota.
