Last night the Atlanta Falcons hired Chicago Bears Assistant General Manager Ian Cunningham as their General Manager, and even though this will be his first time being an NFL General Manager, The Morning Shift explained why he’s far from inexperienced.

“Ian Cunningham has been in an NFL front office in some capacity since 2008. I hate to break it to people, but that is experience. Now has he ever ran his own show, no, but he’s been an assistant to a GM for what four years now, he knows what it looks like, and when you do something long enough you know what you like, you know what you want, and Kevin Stefanski is there and he knows what he needs, and so that’s going to be a guiding light.” Beau Morgan said

Cunningham spent five seasons with the Philadelphia Eagles and one of the best General Managers in the NFL right now in Howie Roseman and was a member of the club’s front office when the organization captured its first Super Bowl title in 2017. Also, Ian began his NFL front office career with the Baltimore Ravens in 2008, was with the Ravens when they won the Super Bowl in 2012, and worked with one of the best NFL General Managers of all-time in Ozzie Newsome.

Atlanta’s new General Manager has worked with and learned from great NFL General Managers, has been a part of franchises who have not only won Super Bowls, but have had sustained success, and he’s worked his way up from a player personnel assistant all the way to an assistant general manager, so even though he’s going to be a first time General Manager he has plenty of experience, and knows what it takes for a franchise to win championships and have sustained success.
