During Mother's Day weekend, R&B lovers received the ultimate gift. Two of the top girl groups of the '90s, SWV and Xscape went head-to-head in a VERZUZ, showcasing vocals and serving looks.

Paying indirect homage to the legendary Prince shade about mics being on, these ladies definitely proved this was the case over the weekend. Singing hits like "Understanding," "Tonight," "Just Kickin' It," the ladies of Xscape came to perform. Though SWV didn't immediately echo the vibe, due to a traumatic experience earlier that day, when it was time, they did what needed to be done. They had everyone weak in the knees with their performances of "Right Here," "Rain," and of course, (arguably) the greatest R&B song of all time, "Weak."

Xscape's special guests included the man behind their magic, Jermaine Dupri and SoSoDef First Lady, Da Brat. In honor of the Mother's Day Celebration, the children of SWV came on stage showering their mothers with gifts and to sing alongside them. The best part of the VERZUZ is that it's becoming less of a "battle" and more of a celebration. Though some still keep score for fun (with SWV taking the crown for the night), the fans and the timelessness of R&B music were the true winners.

With girl groups of this caliber nearly being extinct, Xscape took a minute to honor a modern group they would gladly pass the crown to: June's Diary.

This VERZUZ was the second to partner with FITE TV and you can check out the full replay here.
