The race for Governor of Georgia saw its first debate Monday night and it came with quite a few fireworks.

Democrat challenger Stacey Abrams jumped on incumbent Brian Kemp over several issues, including her contention that he suppressed the vote through legislation. Republican Kemp countered by saying it's never been easier to vote in Georgia. He also cited the record number of voters in the recent election.

Abrams also said that Kemp had delivered very little to Georgians, accusing him of weakening gun laws and women's rights.

Kemp expressed early-on in the debate that he would not push for more rules against abortion. He signed the so-called "heartbeat bill" in 2019, which bans almost all abortions after weeks of pregnancy.

The debate came on the first day of early voting in which close to 100,000 votes were cast.

The election will be held on Tuesday, November 8th.
