The Atlanta activist stated that “crime is up 51% nationwide” because COVID is still rampant and millions of people are without work and money. However, his message to the youth really hit home. The rapper expressed that “violence may seem like a quick and easy solution to make things happen, but it’ll put you in a situation where you don’t wanna be.”

Days ago, the windows of his barbershop were “shot out.” According to an Instagram post, “it was not a personal attack,” but unfortunately, the business got hit in the midst of crossfire. The OG Swag Shop’s opening was initially postponed, due to COVID, but in light of the shooting, the reopening will continue to be stalled.

The statement can serve as a message to end senseless violence. The 45-year-old continued by saying, “it’ll be two families mourning ‘cause one family member will be in the ground and another family member will be in prison."

"It’ll be a burden on mothers, baby mothers and fathers. So, I just wanna say before you make a violent move, just think about it ‘cause the consequences ain’t just on y’all,” he adds.

Killer Mike began poetically preaching, similar to a prominent religious message, while encouraging the youth to pick up a trade and make the most of the time given to them.

Sincerely expressing, “it might not be time to go; it might be time to eat at home... It might not be time to buy something; might be time to save something. Just endure this time of suffering ‘cause joy gonna come in the morning… Once we give ourselves to the grave or the court, it ain’t no mercy on us.”

The rapper mentioned that he has no “ill will” against anyone and will probably “reopen [the shop] in March.” Check out Killer Mike’s entire interview with Big Tigger above.
