Kirk Cousins showing up for voluntary workouts is great for Falcons

The Morning Shift explains why the Falcons’ veteran quarterback being at the teams’ voluntary offseason program gives Atlanta a lot more trade leverage

After Atlanta Falcons Head Coach Raheem Morris said "I'm not going to be foolish to think that he's [Kirk Cousins] going to show up for voluntary work," rightfully so there was this collective feeling that there was a very slim chance that the Falcons’ veteran quarterback would show up to the teams’ voluntary offseason program that got kicked off yesterday.

However, Cousins not only surprised the masses when he showed up yesterday, but he also helped the Falcons as well, and The Morning Shift explained how earlier today.

“It puts a lot of cards back in the Atlanta Falcons’ hands in terms of trades and other teams being interested. If you want him, come off of the money.” Mike Johnson said

Kirk showing up to the Falcons’ voluntary offseason program shows he’s not going to be a locker room distraction, that he’s willing to be a part of the team, and that the Falcons are perfectly fine keeping him on the roster as long as they need to even if that means he starts the season as Atlanta’s back up quarterback.

If any other NFL teams are interested in trading for Cousins now or at any point this season for whatever reason yesterday showed that that team is going to have to pay the Falcons’ price to get him because the Falcons aren’t desperate to get rid of him and Cousins isn’t desperate to leave.
