Max Fried is earning his keep, and then some. The All-Star lefty is putting up a terrific 2024 campaign after a rough go in his first couple outings. His last start Tuesday night showcased his gritty side after not having his best stuff despite tossing 8 shutout innings while scattering seven hits and six strikeouts.

The Braves have shown in the past to not pay up for their stars. Freddie Freeman and Dansby Swanson were unable to come to terms and left town. Max Fried will likely command a contract commiserate to other aces around the league. The Braves have not paid those sorts of deals since the 1990’s.

If the team is able to make another deep playoff run like they did in 2021 it will only bolster Fried’s case for a big deal. He was able to showcase his playoff efforts during the team’s run to the World Series and would have the chance to double down on those efforts.
