The Atlanta Falcons left Sunday’s 31-26 victory over Tampa Bay feeling pretty good about a lot of facets about their team. The secondary, in particular, continues to be a bright spot for the team. Cornerback A.J. Terrell had another outstanding performance and recorded his second interception of the season.

Terrell had a multi-season draught with interceptions heading into 2024 but has slayed that dragon with flare through the first eight weeks. Terrell almost always has the task of guarding the opposition’s best receiver but Tampa was without their top two wideouts in Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. That made Terrell’s stellar performance even more impressive in the sense he was guarding receivers he had little experience gauging their route running.

Safety Jessie Bates added another interception as well as a forced fumble to further enhance the play of the secondary. Without Justin Simmons in the lineup, those two players made the most of their chances vs Tampa as the Falcons improved to 5-3.
