Orlando Arcia has more than proved that he belongs in the Braves starting lineup day in and day out since returning from injury as the short stop has had a stellar season, so much so that he was announced as a starter for the 2023 MLB All-Star game along with Ronald Acuna Jr. and Sean Murphy. To date, Arcia has compiled a .303 batting average with six home runs, 26 RBI’s and an OPS of .794 and defensively has a .979 fielding percentage and 80 putouts through 174.1 innings played.

“I don’t know that anybody had Orlando Arcia starting in the All-Star game on their bingo card this year when the season got underway,” 92-9 The Game’s Jon Chuckery said joking during his conversation with USA Today’s Bob Nightengale following the news of the Braves players being named as All-Star starters. “He’s got to be the biggest surprise. I mean, who thought that was going to come,” Nightengale said in response to Chuckery’s question in regards to Arcia getting the nod for the 2023 MLB All-Star Game.

Nightengale added that the Arcia selection is “amazing” in particularly due to the fact that there were questions at the start of the season in regards the Braves having moved on from Dansby Swanson and the uncertainty of whether Arcia or at the time, Vaughn Grissom, being able to fill the void. “He steps in and makes the All-Star team, and runs away with the voting. It wasn’t even close,” Nightengale said.
