We all can agree, Ronald Acuña Jr. is the most valuable and important player for the Atlanta Braves. What makes this Braves team special however, is their depth and variety of players who can impact the game.
So who are some of the most important players NOT named Acuña then? The Morning Shift was joined by 92.9 The Game Braves Insider, Grant McAuley, who shared insight.
"I didn't think we would get into the month of May and start talking about who has been the two best hitters this month," said McAuley. "The answer is Ronald Acuña Jr. and then with very little space, Marcell Ozuna right behind him."
Ozuna struggled early, hitting .085 in March and April. But he has had a tremendous May for the Braves hitting .343 with eight home runs, and has made strides in his game through hard work.
McAuley later explained the possibility of Michael Soroka in a Braves uniform and how he would fit with this team.
"It's not about trying to rush Michael Soroka back in to fix the Braves rotational absences at the moment," said McAuley. "You want to do right by the player in a long term comeback like this."
The Braves are looking to add more consistency to their rotation and receive more contribution from players such as Michael Harris, Austin Riley, and more. If you are a Braves fan, you should be optimistic based on the talent of these players and the work they have been putting in to find their stride.
