The Atlanta Braves announced on Tuesday that second baseman Ozzie Albies will be placed on the 10-day injured list with a right great toe fracture. Albies sustained the injury Monday night in Houston after being hit by a pitch in the second inning.
In a corresponding move, the team called up versatile infielder David Fletcher from Triple-A Gwinnett. Fletcher will likely be tasked with playing multiple positions along with fellow veteran utility man Luis Guillorme.
Through 15 games this season Albies is batting .317 with two home runs and 14 RBIs. The team has now lost three starters to the injured list in Sean Murphy, Albies, and Spencer Strider to a season-ending UCL injury.
