Heavy rain moving is expected to move through north Georgia tonight and will potentially freeze overnight, causing patchy black ice on roads. The Georgia Department of Transportation has started brining interstates, state routes, bridges, and overpasses in northern parts of the state.
Due to Inclement Weather, there are several delays. Gov. Brian Kemp announced he would postpone the opening of state offices for two hours.
In the metro, Atlanta Public Schools, Cobb County and Towns, Union, Forsyth, and Habersham County schools and colleges are delaying opening up to two hours tomorrow.
Atlanta Public Schools (APS) posted on their website to operate on a two-hour delay, including bus routes. If a child's regular bus pick-up time is 6 a.m., they should expect that pick-up to occur at 8 a.m. APS staff should report to schools and office buildings two hours later than their standard reporting time except for essential facilities staff.
APS added that they expect to resume normal operations on February 16 and a standard end time to the school day.
In DeKalb County, all Board of Health locations, including the testing site in East Atlanta (Greater Piney Grove) and vaccination sites in Doraville and Stonecrest, will also be operating on a delayed schedule tomorrow.
The National Weather Service has issued a tornado watch for portions of central Georgia until 10 p.m. EST.
