92-9 the Game Atlanta Braves Insider Joe Patrick joined Dukes & Bell to talk about Ian Anderson's return and after two starts back from the IL.

Should the team be worried about its young pitcher?

“The thing I think that’s most concerning about him is that he has made two starts since he’s returned from his injury and has not struck out a single batter in either two of those starts,” Patrick said. “And one of those starts was really good. I don’t think he gave up a run in his return, but still not a lot of swings and missed from Ian Anderson, which is what we expect."

Through his first 18 starts Anderson struck out 98 batters in 96 innings (9.18 strikeouts per 9 innings). But in his two starts since returning, Anderson has thrown 8 2/3 innings without fanning a batter.

“To be fair, he was getting swings and misses, he was striking out batters in his rehab starts, so maybe that’s an optimistic sign," said Patrick. "But I’m a little worried about him not being able to get those swings and misses at the major league level since he returned.”
